Overview

Sustainopolis is an interactive "choose your own adventure" style game designed to educate players on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Players step into the role of a city leader tasked with shaping the future of a fictional city by making critical policy decisions across three key factors:

  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Economic Prosperity
  • Social Equity

Each decision dynamically impacts the city’s development and leads to multiple possible outcomes, challenging players to balance competing priorities for a sustainable and prosperous future.

How to Play

  1. Set the language that you want in Preferences (English or German)
  2. Start the Game: Begin your journey as the leader of Sustainopolis.
  3. Make Decisions: Respond to scenarios by selecting from multiple-choice options.
  4. Track Scores: Monitor your environmental, economic, and social scores, updated dynamically after each choice.
  5. Balance Goals: Strive to keep all three scores balanced while progressing toward a sustainable future.
  6. Explore Outcomes: Watch your city evolve as a result of your decisions and discover one of several possible endings.

Gameplay Features

  • Engaging Scenarios: Players face realistic dilemmas such as renewable energy adoption, housing policies, and public transportation, each tied to the SDGs.
  • Dynamic Scoring System: Every choice affects the city’s scores in environmental, economic, and social dimensions (ranging from 0 to 100).
  • Educational Moments: Integrated real-world examples and explanations highlight the significance of each decision.
  • Multiple Endings: Players experience a variety of outcomes based on their ability to balance competing goals.
